In fulfilment of the #ICPD25NairobiSummit Commitments, this song is one of several of the activities that our Creative Artiste, Youth thought leader and Social Advocate, Edrine K, is involved in to put a spotlight on the worsening problem of child, early and forced marriages in Uganda. The song seeks to inspire further and accelerated action towards the elimination of this problem. The song also seeks to inspire & empower girls to be more informed & assertive in standing up for their Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights. The socioeconomic effects of COVID-19 and Climate Change have worsened the problem, and also affected previous gains achieved towards the alleviation of this problem. #16DaysOfActivism2021 Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!
This project was made with the endorsement of UNFPA Uganda. It resulted in being invited by UNFPA Uganda to serve on the “16 Days of Activism Media E-Chat panel” on December 8, 2021. Our creative artist, Edrine K, shared a panel with the Human Rights Officer, UN Human Rights, and the Senior Policy Advisor UNFPA Uganda, to discuss ending digital violence and call for commitments for the UNFPA #BodyRight campaign. Kirindiro Communications ran a media campaign for this activity in Kasese.
