This is a global media campaign by the UN to end all forms of violence against women by 2030. In commemoration of this campaign in 20202, we collaborated with Compassion International Uganda – Kasese Cluster to produce a song to call upon girls to go back to school.
This music video features the children of Compassion International Uganda – Kasese Cluster. 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence 2020 – Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect. (November 25 – December 10, 2020). Kasese District Uganda, like many rural areas, experienced an unprecedented surge in the sexual abuse of teenagers, and many school girls were defiled, impregnated, and forcefully married off; a pandemic within a pandemic.
This song sought to encourage teenage mothers to go back to school – a pregnant teenager is not a bride. It also encourages those in school to make the right decision of staying in school until they complete.
This song is an inspiration for every young person to make informed Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights & life decisions to enable them to live THEIR BEST LIVES! “Go back to school, keep in school until you complete. Education is endless, it’s never too late to go back to school if you decide.”
